Bringing Pop Culture to Life - One Dragon at a Time
Bringing Pop Culture to Life - One Dragon at a Time
Ever since I was a child, I’ve been endlessly fascinated by the beauty and glamour of old Hollywood. My Noni was a huge movie fan and passed down her love for the classics, introducing me to legends like Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, and so many more. But this series isn’t just about Hollywood’s golden age—it also celebrates modern icons who continue to captivate audiences today. This is an ongoing collection, and I’m excited to keep adding more stars, both past and present, to honor the enduring magic of cinema.
You can’t escape the swarm!
This Henry Winkler dragon, inspired by Little Nicky, is absolutely covered in bees—and they light up! Swarming in chaotic beauty, the glowing insects encircle their unfortunate victim, buzzing with devilish delight. Beneath it all, a vintage Happy Days record serves as the ultimate ironic touch, fusing The Fonz with one of the most hilariously bizarre moments in cinematic history. A one-of-a-kind piece that perfectly captures the absurdity, the horror, and the humor of being covered in bees.
Inspired by: Little Nicky (2000)
Medium: Hand-painted resin with mixed media elements, including glowing LED bees, wire-sculpted swarms, and a repurposed Happy Days record base
One-of-a-kind – Aaaay! Not the bees!
Mystery is afoot, and only one dragon can crack the case!
This Jessica Fletcher dragon, inspired by Murder, She Wrote, sits atop her trusty typewriter, deep in thought as she unravels yet another small-town murder. Dressed in her signature cozy cardigan, magnifying glass in hand, she pieces together the puzzle with an inquisitive stare. The paper, neatly rolled into the typewriter, reads the legendary words: "Murder, She Wrote..." Nearby, a stack of mystery novels and a skull-adorned bookend add a touch of suspense, because where Jessica goes, crime follows.
Inspired by: Murder, She Wrote (1984-1996)
Medium: Hand-painted resin with mixed media elements, including a custom-sculpted typewriter, fabric details, and miniature books
One-of-a-kind – That’s odd… another body?.
Don’t Ever Call Me Ma’am
Some stages aren’t just lit by spotlights, they’re set ablaze by presence.
This piece pays tribute to Tess, Cher’s commanding role in Burlesque, and to the spirit of my dear friend Rachel, who embodies everything bold, glamorous, and unapologetically powerful about the art of burlesque. Our dragon channels Tess with rhinestone shimmer, draped in rich textures, and standing center stage where no one can look away. The base mirrors the shine of the cabaret floor, accented with sultry red and black feathers that demand attention from every angle.
Every detail celebrates burlesque as both performance and defiance, a reminder that strength can be sequined, and authority can strut in heels.
Inspired by: Burlesque (2010)
Medium: Hand-painted resin with mixed media feathers, rhinestone details, and custom stage base
One-of-a-kind: A spotlight piece that won’t let you forget who’s in charge.
Already spoken for! Each dragon is one-of-a-kind, but there’s always something new on the horizon.
